Years after the wreckage of Super Typhoon Yolanda, The town of Hernani showcased its new government center on September 14, 2017 located at its new site in Brgy. Canciledes of the said municipality. Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, Hon. Leni Robredo graced the Inauguration of the mentioned center.

Robredo was with the officials of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Marikina headed by ex-Mayor Del de Guzman and Vice Mayor Fabian Cadiz and its municipal councillors. LGU Marikina allocated 37 million pesos for the construction of the government center as an aid for Hernani after the devastation of Yolanda way back 2013.

The construction of the building was completed after 1 year and 3 months. Along with a Municipal Building, the government center is also composed of a Health Center, a Multipurpose Gym, and a BFP Building.

In behalf of the Hernani population, Hon. Mayor Edgar C. Boco, along with his vice mayor and councilors expressed his gratitude towards the benefactors of this milestone.

“This landmark is a proof that bayanihan spirit still lives among us.” said VP Robredo in Filipino as she delivered her speech after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“What amazes me the most is the resiliency of the people of Hernani.” she added pointing how Hernani rose up from the damage and trauma caused by Typhoon Yolanda.

“It is not possible without the aid and support of generous people like you.” responded Mayor Boco in his speech. #
